For four of their best-selling models, Mitsubishi is now offering a "Platinum Package" that combines a slew of premium options at no additional cost to the car buyer. Sadly, this package is only available in Australia - for now, anyway. Southern Oregon Subaru Volvo Mitsubishi hopes to see this or something similar arrive in the United States, soon. Participating models include the popular 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer, the Aussie-variant of the Outlander Sport, 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander, and the Mitsubishi Montero, known as the Pajero in Australia.

What are the super-premium features offered with these Platinum Edition models? Well, for the Mitsubishi Lancer Platinum Edition, the automaker added a backup camera and sensors; leather, heated seats; additional driver controls; a leather-wrapped center console and steering wheel; Bluetooth and audio controls; 16-inch alloy wheels; side air dams; a chrome muffler tip; and last but not least, Platinum badging. Similarly, the base model two-wheel-drive Mitsubishi Outlander Sport gets all of the above, as well as additional front fog lamps.

The limited production Platinum Edition of the entry-level 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander comes with similar upgrades, as well as silver details on the door handles, console and rear doors. The 4 x 2 version gets side and curtain airbags, already standards on the 4 x 4 model. Rounding out the quartet with the 2012 Montero (Pajero) Platinum, the automaker added privacy glass, integrated side steps, fog lamps, a chrome grille, and platinum badging, as well as a back-up camera, steering-wheel-mounted controls, dusk-sensing headlights and rain-sensing wipers. As if that's not enough, they also threw in a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, rear-zone climate control, Platinum floor mats and a Rockford Fosgate 12-speaker audio system.
